Planet Dance are retailer of dance wear based in Batley, West Yorkshire. We designed their first ecommerce website back in 2005. The first site was an instant success. The latest incarnation plays host to thousands of dancewear products from every major dance wear brand. Planet Dance is a true online success story. From humble beginnings the company is now widely recognised as a leader in the industry. They are suppliers to the Northern Ballet and have a number of high street outlets.

We worked closely with our client to create a modern looking website designed to appeal to a wide range of dancers. The clientele can be male, female, young or old. They may be beginners or seasoned pro dancers. The finished result is a fresh, modern design with wide appeal catering for almost everyone�s taste.

They have thousands of products to display over many categories. To handle this we used a traditional left hand navigation in tandem with custom header dropdown menus. On category pages a filtering system lets visitors choose options like size and colour. This enables visitors to quickly find what they need for despite the large number of items on sale.

The product detail pages contain a lot of information displayed in tabs. Some of this information such as the size guides is specific to products from a particular supplier. We created a special function so that the size guides can be shared across a range of products. This means there's no need for the web admin to input the same information over and over again. It also saves hours of time when a guide needs to be updated.

The client runs a Khaos control epos system in their retails stores. This system is fully integrated with the website so that orders and stock levels are up to date. Website orders are downloaded directly into the accounts system. Stock levels are updated in real time on each product page. As well as having orders delivered by courier, customer can also use to collect their orders in store. Customers are able to choose the particular store where they would like to make their collection. They can also choose to pay through the website or pay on collection. All of customer information is synced to the Khaos control epos system.
